As there are already some reported cases of Dengue in various areas and as it is being feared that Dengue might cause serious havoc among the poor and marginalised people, the Bengali Academia for Social Empowerment (BASE) organised a consultative Meeting on prevention, effective control and management of Dengue on 26th August 2023 at the Meeting Hall of BASE Office as part of its Community Action Programme.
A number of dignitaries and specialists on the matter participated in the meeting and took part in its deliberations. Some of them are Dr. Kusum Kumar Adhikary, Chief Health Officer, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation; Dr. Arindam Paul, Medical Officer of the Mondalganthi Upper Primary Health Centre; Ms. Utkarsha Shaw, CDPO; Mr. Motiul Islam, Lab Technician, Jyotinagar Upper Primary Health Centre; Mr. Rafikul Islam, Social Worker; Mr. Kazi Mohammed Sherif, Former Assistant Director, Social Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal; Prof. Saifulla, Department of Bengali, Aliah University; Dr. Abu Saleh, Assistant Professor of English at Raja Peary Mohan College; Dr. Sk Kabita, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Biological Sciences, Aliah University; Mr. Sain Shaikh, Assistant Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Aliah University; Ms. Tania Parveen, Senior Research Fellow, Department of Geography, North Bengal University; Ms. Salina Begum, Former ICDS Supervisor and so on.
Along with them various Health, ICDS, Aganwadi, Asha workers, people from local clubs and others participated in the consultative meeting and discussed ways to enhance preventive measures against any onslaught of Dengue and also discussed other health related matters regarding community people of the area.
